From waste to high value-added products: Biomass valorization for enhancing circular economy and environmental sustainability
The present special issue aims to gather innovative research works on biomass turning into value-added products through thermochemical processes (i.e., pyrolysis, gasification) and hydrothermal technique (HTC, LTC, GTC). The main potential themes involve, but are not limited to: (i) design improvements of thermochemical processes, (ii) in depth characterization of the generated byproducts, (iii) biofuels valorization for energetic purposes, (iv) chars valorization for the preservation of the environment (liquid and gaseous treatment, soil remediation), (v) chars valorization in agriculture, and (vi) application of novel Biorefinery concepts boosting circular economy and environmental sustainability.
